The Sixties

  • CMI is launched as "Cine Magnetics, Inc."

    The Company quickly evolves from a small film editing outfit to include film processing of 8mm, Super 8mm and 16mm films for the motion picture industry

  • First 16mm film system for use in inflight movie projection tested

The Seventies

  • First consumer videocassette records (VCR) appear

  • First 8mm cassette recorder developed for inflight entertainment

    Flight attendants can now change movies inflight

  • CMI starts handling distribution needs of Columbia Tristar

    (later Sony Pictures) in Inflight Entertainment, a global industry, followed soon thereafter by Universal (later Comcast NBCUniversal), and Twentieth Century Fox

  • CMI launches video department, becoming a pioneer in large volume duplication for VHS and Video 8

    develops expertise in 16mm film to tape transfers; clients come to CMI for their expertise in bridging several generations of technologies in Media

The Eighties

  • CMI launches fulfillment services for video tape and other types of physical media

The Nineties

  • CMI launches DVD capability, successfully managing a major technological transition for the third time in twenty years

    services span authoring through manufacturing and packaging and distribution of CDs and DVDs

  • Launch of CMI’s West Coast Post Production presence to handle localization and audience-specific editing for Hollywood-based customers

The 00's & Beyond

  • CMI Relocates to Downtown Stamford, CT

    CMI moves into state-of-the-art facilities to support the company's continuing growth in localization and digital delivery.

  • CMI launches digital file encoding and transcoding department

    Based on Digital Rapids Stream technology, CMI is at forefront of digital processing and development of Inflight Entertainment digital specifications

  • Digital file delivery surpasses physical delivery as medium of choice for content distribution for CMI clients

    We continue to service analog and digital requirements while managing multiple generations of Audiovisual technologies simultaneously

  • Haitham Wahab and Ken Wynne purchase the Company from previous owners Joseph Barber and Robert Pastore

    Embark on multi-year program to continue shift towards digital technologies while continuing to offer a full complement of post-production related services to our clients
